Spark Fun Electronics Logomatic Serial SD Datalogger Info
The Spark Fun Electronics Logomatic Serial SD Datalogger has the ability to record not just GPS data, but any serial data you can imagine. Now you can record for weeks with any size SD card up to 1GB (Spark Fun Electronics is still testing the 2GB cards). With a little hardware modifying, you can even run analog to digital conversion on the various ADC input and record them.
Recording frequency, serial data rate, and other various firmware settings of the Logomatic Serial SD Datalogger are configurable via a settings.txt file on the SD card. It's as simple as editing the text file on the SD card from your computer, then inserting the SD card into the SFE Logomatic Serial SD Datalogger and powering up the unit! The Lassen iQ Datalogger was a huge hit for Spark Fun, but their customers demanded more flexibility. The Logomatic Serial SD Datalogger, thus, was born. The Logomatic has the ability to record not just Lassen iQ data, but any serial data!
A native of Tulsa, Oklahoma; Nathan Seidle came to the University of Colorado-Boulder as an electrical engineering student in 2000. During his junior year, Nathan was designing one of his first microcontroller projects when his programmer sparked and burned out. Looking for an affordable replacement, he noticed there was a major gap of resources and online stores catering to developers and prototypers. During winter break from school, Nathan maxed out his credit cards with inventory (and pizza) and went to work building an easy to use website. Spark Fun was born shortly after in January of 2003.
Nathan maintained Spark Fun Electronics (SFE) part-time during his junior and senior years and grew it as much as he could while keeping up with schoolwork. By the time he completed his degree in 2004, the company had grown enough to support his full-time efforts and his first employee's efforts as well. Now in its fifth year, the company now has nearly three dozen employees and maintains a growing office on the outskirts of Boulder. The Logomatic Serial SD Datalogger is perfect for storing GPS data, but again, you can store whatever kind of serial data you like on this handy little device. The Logomatic Serial SD Datalogger also comes with the Logomatic Software V02. Retail price for the Logomatic is $59.95, but some stores offer discounts for ordering in bulk, up to as much as $12 per unit when you order 100.
